Bloomingdale’s opens at the Dubai Mall
Bloomingdale’s, one of New York’s famed department stores opened it’s doors in Dubai on 31 January 2010 at the Dubai Mall. This is the first Bloomingdale’s store outside of the US.
Bloomie’s Dubai outpost includes a 146,000 square foot (13,600 square meter) clothing and accessories store and a nearby 54,000 square foot (5,000 square meter) home furnishings store(1). There’s also a Magnolia Bakery within the store, which features freshly baked, old fashioned desserts, like cup cakes, which have made them a NYC institution.
The Dubai Bloomingdale’s is a 270 million dirham ($73.4 million) joint venture between the department store chain’s Cincinnati-based parent, Macy’s, and Dubai retailer al-Tayer Insignia.
