Rann Indian movie
Rann is a 2010 Bollywood Hindi movie by Ram Gopal Varma, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Ritesh Deshmukh, Sudeep and Gul Panag in the lead roles.
The film has seen its share of controversy with the title song Jana Gana Raan, which has been inspired by the Indian national anthem, being banned by the Indian courts.
Amitabh Bachchan stars as the founder of the first ever private news channel in the country INDIA 24/7. Harvard-educated Harshvardhan Malik is India’s most respected media personality. He is a hardcore upholder of journalistic ethics. But his channel is battling for survival.
This movie comes out in mass release in Dubai and UAE cinemas on 28 January.

Plot: Rann means battle. And battle is a fight between large organized forces. In the context of a civil society and its seep complexities, large organized forces (read news channels, political parties and industrial czars) are not just involved in a fight with each other, but more importantly and frighteningly. They are battling a war within themselves and this is especially true of news channels.
Making news is not the easiest thing in the world. So the next best thing obviously would be to make anything and everything appear to be news.
Rann exposes the behind-the-scenes truth of how a truth telling machinery by the very virtue of its positioning has no choice but to corrupt it to become a money-making and power-brokering enterprise.
