Who doesn’t love fish and chips? Well most of us do, and we’ve been hunting Dubai for the finest establishment that serves them up quick, fresh and tasty. We think we’ve found the best seafood fast-food restaurant in Dubai: Nordsee at The Dubai Mall (lower ground food court).

Nordsee is a German franchise founded in 1896 to supply seafood from the North Sea to residents of Bremen. In 1964, they opened their first restaurant outlet, and it turned out to be so successful they they sold off the fishery business to concentrate on retailing. Now, Nordsee has over 400 outlets in Europe alone.

But, why is the concept so successful?

Well, first of all the food served is of quality. We ordered the baked plaice, a grilled pollack, and a shrimps pan. Even though most of the items where pre-cooked, the fish was fresh, crunchy and tasty. The steamed shrimps were served in a bowl with spicy dipping sauce and a side of bread.

Second, there is a lot of variety in what you can order: the Nordsee restaurant features fish and chips, and you can select from plaice, pollack, salmon, as well as, different cooking methods such as baked, grilled or fried. In addition, to that they carry soups, salads, deli-type seafood sandwiches and wraps (which looked delicious), paella, kids’ meals, and even lobster.

Finally, while Nordsee’s pricing does not qualify it as budget fast-food, the prices are completely reasonable for the quality of food on offer.

If you’re looking for quick, fresh, and tasty seafood in Dubai that won’t bust your wallet, there is no better option.

  • 1x Shrimps Pan – 49 AED
  • 1x Baked Plaice – 46 AED
  • 1x Grilled Pollack – 49 AED
  • 1x Miranda 16oz – 8 AED
  • 1x 7up 16oz – 8 AED
  • Total – 160 AED (for two)

I love Nordsee, but sometimes I wish the servings were a little bigger. For example, the sandwiches are good but they’re a little small. Nice place and good food.
