De La Soul at Dubai Sound City
De La Soul are undoubtedly one of the most famous hip-hop acts of our time, not only for their quirky lyrics and jazz rap sound, but also, for the influence they have had on so many newer artists. Catch them at Dubai Sound City on 6th November at the Irish Village.
These American guys hailing from Long Island, New York, are best known for their debut album entitled 3 Feet High and Rising, which released in 1989 and quickly became a critical smash hit as well as a commercial success. This album included the popular tracks Me Myself and I, Buddy, and Eye Know.
De La Soul went on the release several albums which were critically acclaimed and highly successful, though not as much as their debut album. These included, De La Soul is Dead (1991), Buhloone Mindstate (1993), Stakes Is High (1996), Art Official Intelligence: Mosaic Thump (2000), AOI: Bionix (2001), and The Grind Date (2004).
In 2006, the group won a Grammy for their collaboration with the Gorillaz on the single Feel Good Inc.(1)
