Morelli’s Gelato

we can't have enough gelato
A family business of British-Italian immigrants–who started their first store in 1932, in Broadstairs, Kent–Morelli’s Gelato has expanded worldwide including flagship outlets at London’s Harrods and Selfridges stores.
Now we get to indulge in their fifth generation gelato craft. The Dubai Mall location on the Lower Level, serves up mouth-watering scoops of gelato, sundaes, sorbets, milkshakes, toasted Panini sandwiches, and coffee.
While we haven’t tried the Panini’s, we can certainly vouch for the gelato. Our favorites are the Hazelnut, Coconut, and Nutella flavors. Be adventurous and try some of the more unusual flavors like Rose and White Chocolate, or Fruits of the Forest.
Gelato (literally “frozen” in Italian and no reference to gelatin) is characteristically produced using a lighter, classic custard base of milk, sugar and eggs (sometimes), unlike American-style ice creams. Milk-based gelato is also less fattening than cream-based ice creams. Gelato generally has less than 55% air, resulting in a denser product. It also usually melts faster and is best enjoyed in a semi-frozen consistency.
But, forget the science behind the product. Just know that there is an outlet of this famous gelato in Dubai. And it’s very, very good.
