With the start of the English Premier League season right around the corner, now is the time to sign-up on the Premier League website and setup your fantasy team. If you haven’t played before, you’ve been missing out–not only is it a complete blast playing against your buddies in a league, it also allows you to get more involved in the sport.

Get involved

Start by logging into the fantasy premier league website and register. Next, read the rules to get familiar with how the game works. Third, select your squad of 15 players from the 100 point budget you start with. This last point will take most of your time and requires the most amount of thought and strategy. It’s ok, you’ll be able to do transfers during the season and you’ll learn as you go along.

Our own fantasy league

This year dubaimoves.com invites you to participate in our private league.

The code to join this league is: 259830-65075

Once you have logged in and entered your team, click on the Leagues link you can find on the right of the page. Now enter the code to join the league.

Some tips to consider when selecting your squad

1. Fantasy football is all about picking the players with the best match-ups. Therefore, analyzing the fixture list is essential. Do so for the upcoming week, but look at the next few weeks as well. You want your selection or transfers to include strategy for the following weeks. Obviously, you want to focus on those players who have easier match-ups or higher probability of scoring, getting an assist, or maintaining a clean sheet. On some weeks, a team may play twice, which means double the chance to score points, so maximize on those team players for the week.

2. Use last year’s stats. Unlike the stock market, past performance CAN be a good indicator of future performance for football. Check the numbers–how many goals were scored, yellow cards received, assists?

3. Select players who will play all the time. Your reserves will get played at some point, so don’t loose out on points–make sure even your cheapest buys regularly play.

4. Research new transfers and less famous players. New transfers who haven’t played in the league before will not have any history in the tables, so do your own research and figure out how much they could contribute. Sometimes, the less known names will blossom into top scorers.

5. If you have access, keep an eye on the bookies. These guys make odds for a living and hence it’s their job to do research and be informed. Many times the odds are a good place to go to make decisions.

6. Finally, watch the matches. Nothing beats seeing how players and teams perform, then implementing what you learned for your fantasy team.
