Act Up! – a new competition for budding playwrights
If you’ve ever contemplated tapping into your creative side here’s your opportunity. The Dubai Drama Group is sponsoring a public competition for plays, open to amateurs of all ages. All entries can be either a monologue, one-act play or a single scene featuring a maximum of four characters. But the best part is that the winning entry will be directed, produced and performed by the DDG in December. You’ll get to sit back and watch your creation being performed!
The competition is being promoted as part of DDG’s 25th anniversary in an effort to boost public awareness and increase membership, which in turn will mean more productions.
“We’re hoping to get people thinking about theatre and about being creative, as well as increase awareness and membership of the DDG, ” says Abishek Reddy, DDG’s newly elected chairman.
We applaud this effort by the group to increase community involvement. Moreover, this is a great opportunity to get involved in community initiatives, meet like-minded people, as well as exercising your creativity. We encourage you to take part.
