Souk Al Bahar (“market of the sailor”) is an upscale entertainment and shopping destination in the Downtown Burj Dubai area much like Madinat Jumeirah. It’s part of the Old Town residential and commercial development by Emaar and features an arabesque architecture. The Souk is surrounded on three sides by the artificial Burj Lake, as well as being adjacent to the Dubai Mall, Burj Dubai, The Palace Hotel and The Address Hotel.

Souk Al Bahar is more of an entertainment destination than a shopping one. It’s unique feature is its variety of quality restaurants (most of which are licensed to serve alcohol) and bars which face the Burj Lake and allow most patrons to enjoy the Dubai Fountain performances. The shops at the Souk are geared towards tourists mostly, offering Arabic heritage furnishings, gourmet food, and handicrafts.

We are big fans of Souk Al Bahar because of it’s centric location downtown as well as plethora of dining and going out options with outdoor spaces. For example, you can shop at the Dubai Mall, walk over to the Souk for dinner, watch the Dubai Fountain, then walk to The Address Hotel for a drink.
