Gold to Go ATM at Emirates Palace

On a day that the price of gold hit an all time high at $1,245 an ounce, the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi unveiled a vending machine which dispenses gold for cash.
Created by German entrepreneur, Thomas Geissler, the ATM-style kiosk in the Emirates Palace monitors the daily gold price and offers small bars up to 10 grams or coins with customized designs.
Geissler started installing the cash-for-gold machines in his native country in 2009. The Abu Dhabi debut on Wednesday is billed as the first international foray for Geissler’s “Gold to Go” brand, which he picked because of Abu Dhabi’s “high-rolling” image.
